Where does the name Onomie come from?
Onomie, pronounced ON-uh-mee, is our twist on the suffix “onomy,” which means “the knowledge of.” As a house of chemists and beauty nerds meticulously in the labs creating and clinically testing these skincare & makeup hybrids, we thought this curiously captured our pursuit of intelligently bringing this new family of products to life.
What do these shade names mean?
Onomie is inspired by the belief that smart is beautiful. This is a belief that is built into all aspects of our brand. For our products, this means that we named each shade after impressive historical women. The shades of the Bright Concealing Elixir are inspired by bright historical females who were well ahead of their time and nowadays would be celebrated for their brilliance and wit. The shades of the A.C.E. Illuminating Eye Treatment are named after historical women of genius.
What makes Onomie products different than others?
Onomie was created to simplify beauty by combining clinically-validated skincare formulas with advanced makeup technology to provide multi-benefit products to women who recognize that beauty should not be complicated. We formulate purposefully to simplify daily habits, we speak to customers in a new, approachable way, and we aim to use business to make the world more lovely by doing good through product, our family (team) and giving back to women’s education and empowerment.

What is She’s The First?
She’s The First sponsors girls’ education in low-income countries with the goal of creating first-generation graduates and our next generation of global leaders. So far, they have sponsored 450 girls which calculates to 1,182 years of education. Learn more about them at www.shesthefirst.org.
How does your philanthropic program with She’s The First work?
As a company, Onomie believes in the importance of education, specifically women’s education. We have partnered with an inspiring organization, She’s The First, who has made it their mission to increase the number of female graduates around the world.
When you sponsor a girl, you give her the chance to live healthier, delay marriage and childbirth, resist domestic violence, secure a better job, earn higher wages, and break the cycle of poverty. Educating girls isn’t just about equality, it’s about the economy. Research consistently shows that educating girls and enabling their participation in the workforce substantially increases a country’s economic output. An extra year of primary school for girls means that they can earn 10 to 20 percent more on average. Currently, the education of girls is the most underutilized resource across the globe.
We give 1% of our time and 1% of our profits every year to support their efforts.
- When we say we give 1% of our time, we mean that we spend at least 25 hours volunteering and working with She’s the First.
- When we say we give 1% of our profits, we mean that we donate the difference between the total sales dollars from how much it costs us to make the products to support to She’s the First.
Shipping & Returns
What is your return policy?
Our products are clinically proven to show a reduction in fine lines, wrinkles and dark circles with daily use over time. We recommend that our products be used for 60 consecutive days (or two cycles of cellular regeneration) in order to see results. If you aren't beginning to see results after 45-60 days of use, return our products for a full refund within 75 days.
Where do you ship?
We currently ship anywhere in the United States. More locations are on their way, stay tuned.
What is your shipping policy?
Standard ground shipping is free for orders of $20 or more, and your products should arrive in 5 to 10 business days once the order is processed. Need your products sooner? Select the expedited shipping option when purchasing full size product for an additional fee.
I haven’t received my package. What should I do?
Full size products are shipped via DHL so you can use the tracking number that was sent in your order confirmation email to locate your package. If that doesn’t work, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will track it down for you.
How do I change/update my order?
We start fulfilling your order as soon as it is placed so that we can get your order to you in the shortest amount of time. For that reason, let us know about any changes you want to make as soon as possible.
How can I check the status of my order?
You will receive a confirmation email when you place your order, and then again when your package has shipped. For more up to date status updates, check your tracking number which can be found when logging into your account or in your shipping confirmation email.
What if I receive the wrong product?
We apologize for this inconvenience and take full responsibility for this mistake! Email us at email@example.com and we will get you the right product as soon as possible.
This isn’t the right color for my skin after all. How can I exchange?
We would love to help find the best shade for you, if you haven't found the right shade through the sampling program or are having difficulty selecting for the sample program, please contact us at ShadeBrigade@onomie.com and we will work with you to find the right shade. Shipping and processing fee for exchanges are free.
How can I use my Onomie gift card?
Gift cards can be purchased at onomie.com or in our showroom. Just apply your gift card number during checkout. You can also transfer the balance of your gift card by logging in to your account and adding the balance to your account. This will transfer all the balance and your gift card will now be empty. As long as you are logged in to your account, the balance will be automatically applied to your purchase.
How can I check my gift card balance?
Just log into your account and enter your gift card number under the “Gift Card” tab.
When will my gift card expire?
Can I return a gift card?
Our gift cards are non-refundable. If you’d like to return a purchase made with a gift card, the funds will be credited back to your account. We cannot credit back a gift card.
How long will it take for a gift card to arrive?
Gift cards are sent via USPS and should arrive in five to seven business days. Gift cards ship separately from other items.
Can I ship a gift card directly to the recipient?
Of course! Fill in the shipping address field with their address when checking out and we will take care of the rest. You will also have the option of adding a gift message when checking out.
Do you sell gift cards in your showroom?
Yes, you can swing by our showroom to pick up a gift card (or two or three) or you can order them online and we will send them your way.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards and PayPal. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have a different form of payment you would like to use.
When do you charge my credit card?
We charge your credit card as soon as your order is processed so that we can start fulfilling your order immediately. Let us know if this is a problem and we will come up with a solution.
After a return, how long will it take to see the refund in my account?
We are sorry things didn’t work out. You will be refunded to your original form of payment within ten business days upon receipt.
Where can I buy your products?
Our products are sold through our website, www.onomie.com. There are two ways for you to get your hands on our products:
- For first time customers, we recommend our starter kit where you can try before you buy to find your shade match.
- If you already know your shade, go ahead and head straight to checkout. As always, we are here to help. Contact us with any questions.
Are your products all natural?
All of our products contain naturally derived ingredients when possible. We use a combination of plant and lab-based technology to provide multi-benefit products and formulate for efficacy and safety.
Do your formulas contain parabens?
No, we don’t formulate with parabens. Onomie formulates with a combination of tried and true safe ingredients and cutting edge technology. Here are ingredients we don’t formulate with:
- We don’t formulate with parabens because they are under debate for their safety and found in many cosmetic products.
- We don’t formulate with phthalates which have been deemed unsafe.
- We don’t formulate with alcohol because it can strip the skin of its natural moisture barrier and irritate the skin.
- We don’t formulate with fragrances because they can irritate the skin.
Do you test on animals?
We don’t test on animals for any of our products. We clinically test our final formulations on human skin using scientific instruments and statistically sound sample sizes which are overseen by professional graders and dermatologists. We invest in these expensive tests to ensure your safety and to validate the efficacy of the formulations.
Why does it take 4 to 8 weeks to see results?*
Correcting dark circles and fine lines takes time and best results are seen using the products daily. This is why we formulate hybrids, you will see instant benefits from high purity pigmented makeup and long-term improvement in the health of skin from heaping doses of skincare active ingredients. All products are clinically tested to ensure that you will see results once the ingredients have time to take effect. Good things come to those who wait.
